Dick Jerardi

Dick Jerardi is an acclaimed sportswriter, commentator, and host of both radio and television, primarily focusing on horse racing. His writing career, most notably with the Philadelphia Daily News, includes the coverage of every Triple Crown race from 1987 onward.

He’s a recipient of the Red Smith Award five times over, an honor attributed to his expansive coverage of the Kentucky Derby. In 2004, Jerardi’s detailed account of the horse Smarty Jones’ Triple Crown run gained wide recognition, marking significant victories at both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, with John Servis as the trainer.

Since 2011, Jerardi has lent his expert analysis as an on-air talent for the Pennsylvania Derby’s live television broadcasts aired on PARX Racing and now more broadly on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Jerardi’s most distinguished work includes his contribution to the long-standing TV program, “Let’s Go Racing PARX,” where he works alongside PARX Hall of Fame peer Bruce Casella and co-host Danni Gibson.
